The new episode goes into detail concerning extraction, and how the bark is easily available over the net. Also the slightly expected overly generic quasi-intellectual hipster.
It does mention non-addiction, however, I do feel like the overall portrayal was rather negative. They mention "blacking-out" etc.
The limelight has begun, rock overturned. If this public conversation has no participants from the legit community then we have no one to blame but ourselves. As ingredient gathering could become much more difficult. I feel like if this isn't managed well by responsibly public members speaking in defense (once the limelight births greater conversation) then a similar backlash paralleling the classical anti-lsd movement could arise.
Anyway, falling back into the unborn. Be nibbana'd!

Danggg I'd like to see this too. ^ Kinda a shame the level of conversation that takes place about psychedelics, but that is where we are at consciously. Obviously there is a small group of people who raise the conversation, but it's small. The massive public opinion on psychedelics is psychotic. It's like how Timothy Leary said Lsd causes psychotic behavior in those who don't take it. People will drink and eat drugs from white sugar to script meds and cannot acknowledge responsible use of mushrooms?

Caught it by accident on tv the other night . As to be expected A pretty bad depiction in general . Vague descriptions by pseudo "Hipsters?" Is that what those guys are ? Dissappointing and negative The only way of discovering the limits of the possible is to venture a little way past them into the impossible. Arthur C. Clarke http://vimeo.com/32001208

Disgustingly inaccurate representation. What can you expect from national geographic though.

The fact that they call it a "new drug"... >.< So is this a new full episode? Its not listed as oncoming or as an episode. I saw it and was very disappointed and ashamed. The “dmt cook" was heating the naphtha on the stove with an open flame while wearing a tyvek suit with a dust mask, only to freeze precipitate his unsealed tray with a freezer full of food The hipster was inefficiently burning the spice by not sandwiching it with pot...very poor representation.

What a horrible travesty.

This completely undermines the whole "spirituality" of the entheogen. Its easy to make it look bad when you show a kitchen chemist wearing a chem suit and cooking naphtha right over an open flame and a stoned out hipster wearing a yarn hat and suspenders going on about how the walls are changing colors. Where is the part about the correlation between the pineal gland and chakras, the eye of ra, or Egyptian/Tibetan book of the dead? How about the stunning discovery of reptilians who's pineal gland has a cornea, retina, and a lens attached to it? I say the less mainstream the better. yeaaah... since when is DMT a new drug? Burroughs, Leary, and Ginsberg all tried it in the late 50's and early 60's. couldn't help but notice the other vid ads in the background regarding crack/coke, meth, and ecstacy. NatGeo has definitely taken a more alarmist note to programming in recent years, I'd venture they are run by a media mogul with right-wing ideology. The commercial ads are usually about 9/11 coins and related crap and merlin looks like a wannabe hazmat worker. jumpsuit and particle mask for naphtha? pussy. I wouldn't be suprised if merlin wasn't a NGEO staff member posing, like when people do dramatizations when they really don't know what the hell they are talking about and get it all wrong or over do it.. It was only a matter of time before Drug INC got around to DMT, after all how many drugs are out there for them to keep that show going... it's like what happened with Ancient Aliens, started out good but then ran out of topics so they had episodes like Ancient aliens and cowboys... after a while people stop paying attention. I doubt this will have much of an impact. You can't do anything about yesterday, but you can do everything with tomorrow.

Wow of all the potential spokespersons . . . . they really scraped the bottom of the barrel to get this guy. What a crappy smoking technique. Since when is a heavy trance blacking out? Wow, ignorance and transmission of incorrect knowledge as if it were truth for the loss. "But even if nothing lasts and everything is lost, there is still the intrinsic value of the moment. Wow, ignorance and transmission of incorrect knowledge as if it were truth for the loss. Dude looked like he "blacked out" on his scortching lighter with his face... I really like the skid row scenes in the intro, like some sort of crack alley with dumpsters and all... silly right wing propaganda. The trailer creates the impression that it is yet another 'drug' threat to society perpetuated by hippies. For what it's worth, at least the voiceover states it's a dimension that is entered into. Peace
