some one i am not was wondering if a acid base extraction would work in the gaseous state like this:
Blow HCL vapour through plant material, dry after
wash unwanted fats out with naphta
blow ammoniak vapor trough plant material ( freebasing supposed to happen at this step), dry the material
washout the freebase ?

nope

gas phase is mostly empty space. liquid provides a more effective medium to conduct
intermolecular interactions, in this case, protonating/deprotonating the terminal amine.

one could gas the nonpolar phase, if it is sufficiently saturated.
but gassing plant material (unless it is a supercritical fluid extraction, using a nonpolar solvent...and even then, it is technically a fluid) isn't going to work.
