You need to be more specific and tell us EXACTLY how you did everything. Without any details no one will be able to help you.
You do understand that you need to put the naphtha into the rootbark/lye/water solution, and that you have to mix all the naphtha in to the solution so there is no visible seperation, then let it seperate, then repeat as many times as you like before pulling the solvent and precipitating the crystals?
You can't just let the solvent sit there on top of the rb/lye/water solution and expect much of anything to make it into the solvent.
Usually the problem with the STB teks is either not enough lye, or not enough water. But if you followed the 1/1/15 ratio then you shouldn't have problems. You do need to understand how the naphtha works and how it is used to obtain the spice from the solution though.
