So it's been upper 80's and sunny around here lately (all summer). I was wondering if it would be safe to leave an unopened can of naphtha outside either in the shade or direct sunlight? I figure shade at least must be fine, as I'd imagine people keep the stuff in sheds and garages. But what about direct sunlight, could it spontaneously combust or be otherwise dangerous? What do you guys think? It certainly sounds preferable to warm bathing it, and would probably be even more efficient. Thoughts?

Unopened can in the sun sounds like a bad idea, it probably even says in the bottle to avoid it?
If you want to warm up safely, check the FAQ for details how to. Warm water bath with the fire/heat source OFF.

Take a good sized bowl. Take a glass with pre measured amount of naphtha and place it down inside the bowl.
Then boil some water on the stove. Take boiling water and pour in bowl so the glass of naphtha is fully immersed in the bowl of boiling water. Let the glass of naphtha sit in the bowl for the time needed until the naphtha's warm/hot.

Do not attempt a traditional hot water bath, with the heat source turned on below the bath. Take it far away from the stove, as even if you turn it off the heat that remains could ignite the naphtha if it comes in sudden contact with it. You can cut the stove out of the equation entirely if you just get hot water from the bathtub. It works just as well. What is the auto-ignition temperature for naphtha, I thought it was pretty high? Like 232C ?
