Hello fellow pyschonauts,
I have started a dmt extraction with some acacia plant matter which i believe may contain dmt.
Although after steeping the plant matter in a soloution of water and lemon juice for about a week it appears to be growing white mould on the top...
What should i do?
Should continue to filter, basify and extract? Will that make me sick?
Or should i simply toss the lot and start over. Something which i really dont want to do as i have to grow another acacia tree before i will gain any more plant matter. But if its a matter of health i can live with it.
Any advice would be great.

Throw it away IMO. You can manually remove the mold and try to extract/purify it, but since nobody can know what possible mycotoxins are there, its impossible to say if the process will actually remove them.

What acacia was it? Did you grow it yourself? How old was it and what parts of the plant did you use?

I thought the act of basifying or even the napatha bath would kill off any mycotoxins, but i would rather be safe than sorry. believe it was an acacia madainii (sp?) It had the distinct yellow cylinder type flowers. The tree was growing on a friends property and was fairly old/large. With my freinds permision i harvested a small amount of bark and a few leaves, the mixture weighed around 250g.

Without knowing which exact mycotoxins, its impossible to know if they would break down with basifying (and what they would break down into... ) as well as if they are soluble in naphtha, so yeah I think better be safe than sorry. I feel you, I've had some very nice quite large ayahuasca brew grow mold and had to throw it away, some years ago ... Always keep brews in the freezer, ideally, or in the fridge, if its for more than a couple of days.

Did you check nen's acacia information thread? Its linked in the analysis thread in my signature. Maybe you can find other acacias and harvest them sustainably, as it's written in that thread. Phyllodes and small branches are usually a more sustainable way of harvesting than bark.

Good luck and let us know if you do further experiments!

Thanks for all your help, specially about keeping the brew in the fridge or freezer. I will check out the thread you mentioned. I have a few maidanii seeds on order, just means ill have to wait a little longer.
