Swim lacks a slow cooker, and is thinking of potential ways around using this item, if only for the moment. A secondary glass cake pan + water? Not certainly knowing the contents of metal/linings in some pots, etc, Swim's pondering alternatives, but'd ultimately invest in said equipment if it'd lend a hand.
Additionally, in reducing, Swim's wondering if the style of oven could have detrimental effects, i.e. broiler below, etc.

Why do you need a slow cooker?

Normal stainless steel pot on low fire for boilign plant material in acidic solution. After 3 or 4x boils + filtering and reducing to manageable amount, you transfer to a glass container for basification (remember always add lye gradually and stirring while you do it, and working in a safe place in case of spills or breaking, like a sink for example). If you want to heat the pulls or heat the whole mixture, what you do is a warm water bath, you dont need a cooker, just heat some water before, turn off the fire and submerge the bottom of the extraction container or the container containing your solvent in the water, so it will warm up

This is what I had thought, though I was most concerned if any type of contamination were able to occur based on the potential contents of non-stick coatings, etc.
Though I would imagine a 'heat bath' sort of method for warming the acified water for the (step2) extraction process could not bring the water to a simmer. If there'd be no problems as far as the lining and hcl, Swim's probably set.
