Does my extraction plan look okay? Options

Hello everyone, I am a complete noob attempting to make a dmt extraction for the very first time. I have experience growing mushrooms, and I want to make the next step in creating psychedelics. I read through some teks, and I have constructed a basic outline of what I intend to try. Hopefully, some people who are more experienced can tell me if there’s anything wrong with my plan. Most of my plan for extraction follows marsofold’s tek, but I made some slight changes. I’m surprised a dmt extraction is this simple; I thought it would be a lot harder, but it seems straight-forward. Anyway, here’s my plan.

I will start by simmering a mixture of water and white vinegar on my stovetop in a ceramic pot. I will use medium heat to ensure that the mix only lightly simmers rather than boils fully.

While my mixture begins to simmer, I will grind up one pound of mimosa hostillis root bark in a coffee grinder. I will add the grinded mimosa to my simmering liquid. I will stir very well to ensure that it mixes well. I will let this mixture simmer for about 2 hours, stirring often.

After 2 hours I will pour most of the liquid into a glass container, likely a large glass beaker. I will NOT pour out the “sludgy bottom”. Instead, I will keep the sludgy bottom in my ceramic pot. I will add more water/white vinegar mix, and repeat that process 2 more times, for a total of 3 “simmering” sessions.

By now, I should have a large glass beaker full of acidic liquid. I will let this liquid settle for a full 24 hours. After which, I will pour any non-sludgy liquid into a large, sealable, glass container, likely a glass gallon jar, using a funnel as to avoid spilling. To this large jar, I will slowly add a mixture of Sodium Hydroxide (red devil lye) and hot water. I will seal the jar, and gently mix it. I will then add Naptha, and again gently mix the contents. I will let this mixture settle for several hours.

After settling, the liquids in the jar should have separated into 2 distinct layers. I will use a glass turkey baster to retrieve the top layer liquid, and I will put it into smaller jar. I will seal the jar and place it in my freezer for 4 days.

After 4 days, I will prepare to filter. I will filter using some coffee filters, a funnel, and a bottle to catch excess liquid. I will shake my Naptha jar before filtering, and I will do this process when the jar is fresh out of the freezer to ensure that the jar is still very cold. The resulting crystals should be yellowish in color.

I will let these crystals dry, and then I will wash them in a sodium carbonate mix. I will filter the washed crystals from the mix. I will let these now white crystals dry COMPLETELY. The result should be ready to use dmt.

So, does it sound like I’m heading in the right direction?

Sounds good. I would buy powdered bark instead of powdering it yourself just to save the hassle. Also, there is no need to freeze precipitate for 4 days, 24-48 hours is sufficient. Looks like you have covered all your bases!

Thanks for the reply.

I just have one last question before I can get started.

Does an amount of powdered bark equal the same weight of nonpowdered bark?

Like, does 1 pound of powdered bark equal 1 pound of nonpowdered bark?
