I've done a few naptha pulls (with minimal success) and wanted to see if I could get anything with Xylene. Probably a little under 100g of MHRB. There was very thin layer of naptha left before adding Xylene.
When I first tried pulling, I ended up with a very layered mixture that went from black to dark brown to light brown. Eventually the xylene separated and had a somewhat yellow tint.
Now, it was kind of difficult to get the xylene out because the multi-colored layering persisted right below the xylene and kind of formed a mushy dome.
Anyway, I tried adding some more base, but got minimal to no improvement. I then added a LOT more (lye) and now there appears to be almost no separation at all, even after a few days. There isn't anymore layering, it's all black all the way up to the top. I see a very thin layer of clearish liquid on top but there's so little I can't even see what color it might be.

Did you check the tips written in the FAQ? Add plenty of table salt, lye, and vibrations (put it on top of speaker or washing machine or something), and it should clear it up.

or after, doesnt matter... the salt will not dissolve in xylene, only in the water, making the water more polar and helping the layers separate.
