What was that I heard long ago about pH spike damaging DMT?

I’ve never heard this. DMT seems to be able to deal with high and low pH very happily. Even if there was an issue with ‘pH spikes’ wouldn’t adding base to the mixture result in a gradual rise in pH if you didn’t put it all in at once?

If I was doing STB I would add NaOH to the water/bark mixture.
