Hello all I have been proceeding with the cake method and may have screwed up the product. 500g of MHRB was used and I did not make the alcohol basic or acid at the beginning but still yielded a dark goo after straining and filtering it from bark. Upon evaporating alcohol did not watch carefully enough and burnt 3/4 of product on heating source. It turned into a brown sugar like texture Crying or very sad while only leaving a small portion the red dark goo. Can this other brown sugar like product still be used or is it toast so to say?

My question here is can I still use the burnt product kinda looks like crystals and how should I proceed if wanted full spectrum product? Was planning on doing a xylene pulls and evaporation or do I need to basifiy the cake then do pulls? Or do should I just follow the author defat method which seems a bit unclearConfused because of the beginning doesnt make sense to myself
Quote:
Before placing the solvent in the freezer add it to 2x the volume of strongly acidic (vinegar, lemon juice etc..) water and stir gently but consistently for about 5-6 minutes. Remove solvent (evap it if you want for tiny amounts of fatty dmt) ... the dmt has migrated to the water layer at this point. Now add exactly as much solvent as you had the first time and re-basify the water, the dmt will now migrate back into the solvent layer. This can be placed in the freezer for DMT xtals as pure as the driven snow. Also, you can visually see when you have exhausted the water of alkaloids and they have migrated back to the solvent layer because the water will become clear.
Is it saying add 2 parts of acid to 1 part water? Then removing the solvent by separation or allowing to evaporate so at this point there should be clear distinct difference between solvent and water layer in the separation? Much help would be appreciated going to proceed today with the pulls hopefully not in vein.
