For some future extractions an re-x I got myself some Collall thinner for rubber cement.
Reading from the forum its supposed to be heptane.
Its cheaper than bestine and more available.

A quote from Dee Em Tea

Yeah SWIM used the Wasbezine aswell, and it worked also fine for him. The only thing I found, that it stil smells the hell out of SWIM's kitchen, what doesn't really pleases the girlfriend. So he got him self the rubbercement/fotolijm verdunner, witch is a bit more expensive and harder to come by. He uses this now for every part of the process. If you whant to evaporate some of this stuff its gone in a view minutes, and doesn't leave any nasty smells. This is where you have to be a bit carefull to make sure your kitchen is well ventilated because of obvious reasons.Wink I'm sure this stuff is pure Hepthane, but it smells very different than this Wasbenzine, so are you sure traveler, that this is not contaminated with nasty stuff???
So if there is anyone that whant's to get the pure Heptane, I know two shops in A'dam that sell it. So PM. me, if you want to know where.
Wink

This is what he usesSmile

I looked for a datasheet before getting this product but havent found it so far.
Now I read the label and it says. "thinner based on boiling point petrol".
This brings me to cas-nr 64742-49-0,
Name:
Naphtha (petroleum),hydrotreated light
Superlist Name:
Petroleum ether
Synonyms:
Hydrotreatedlight naphtha (petroleum)

I put some on a clean petri dish. I evaps quickly.
My nose is blocked but it has a bit of smell but not strong
when I put the liquid on the dish i see some small specks but in the end all seems to have evporeded.
is this normal to see this small dots (1 mm).

So it seems its realy naptha and not heptane.
I am right ??
Is this good to do defattings and pulls ?
Can I use it for re-x also ??

I just want to know to be safe.

I have the same stuff.
Heptane does evap even quicker than naphtha in my experience.
And since most rubber cement is latex + heptane, rubber cement solvent must be heptane
Anyway, even if its not heptane you can't ruin your crystals

So what you are realy saying amvitamine is that you are guessing it should be heptane.
You have nothing be back this upp ?

Don't have any backup other than that someone told me collall was fine to reX. Havent tried it myself yet.
Heptane is supposed to boil at about 100 degrees Celsius so you can heat with a thermometer in it and see if it boils at 100
But since you asked if it was safe to use collall, yes it is since all you are doing is solving it again in a petroleum based solvent.

As suspected Collall thinner is not heptane !!!

I think a lot of naphtha on the market contains .1% benzene. Benzene evaporates easily so won't do your spice any harm.
