Weck pot turned to shreds Options

SWIM was doing his first tek (NOMAN's):

- 1500 ml destilled water and 100 grams of NaOH added together in a weckpot and waited for it to cool down a little

- SWIM added 100 grams of MHRB powder to it and let it soak for about 24 hours, occasionally shake the bottle

- 50 ml of warm napta was added, lots of stirring, rolling the bottle etc and the napta disappeared (didn't flow on top, even after pouring warm water over the bottle)

- again 50 ml of warm napta was added and after the same procedure, SWIM used his pipet to extract about 40 ml of extreme darkish yellow napta.

- for the second pull, SWIN added another 50 ml of warm napta, which again, disappeared mysteriously

- again 50 ml of warm napta and as SWIM lifted the bottle out of the warm water bath, the bottom literally broke out and all of the water/lye/mhrb was on the floor.

How could this have happened? The weckpot wasn't sealed, so no pressure, and also the emulsion was about 30 degrees celsius, so no extreme heat either. SWIM really would like some insight in this, so this NEVER happens again..

Also, where did the napta went to? SWIM added 4-5 times the 40-60 ml of warm napta and extracted around 50-60 ml of it.

It's good to see I'm not the only DMT smoker in Amsterdam. As for your weckpot: What material was it made of? Did you check it for structeral faults before using and after rolling around? Perhaps it was already damaged and lifting it was the final straw.

I myself use an emaille pan from the Blokker. They're these red sauce pans they sell for not too much. The NaOH doesn't dissolve the emaille and I can use it in an A/B TEK as well(vinegar/lime). The Blokker is a create store to get supplies from anyway. They got a 13 euro coffee mill that I use to chop MRHB chips into fibers. They got beakers to measure off liquids, scales and a small pyrex oven dish which is ideal to freeze precipitate with. And wooden spatula's which you can use one per cook. They're cheap and means you don't have to store a lye covered spatula.

The weckpot was the 2 liter jar from the blokker and made of thick glass. There absolutely weren't any faults or damages on this pot.

Does this emaille pan has a good airtight sealing? And what is the Dutch name of Pyrex? Is it the same?

And I also have that 13 euro glass grinder to chop the bark Pleased

You can all ways use plastic milk jugs. Just make sure it says HDPE on the bottom. Using a milk jug also allows for easy siphoning of your non polar solvent, as you can squeeze the liquid up to the thinner neck.

Also, don't those jars have rubber seals? If so i wouldn't use them, as lye and naphtha can cause damage to it and maybe even allow nasties to end up in your spice.

Pyrex is heat safe glass. Any oven dish is made from it and the Blokker sells it too. They have these 500gram small dishes with a shallow top dish in the top. I use the shallow for freeze pre-cipping. I'll see if I can upload a picture of the dish for you.

The pan itself doesn't have airtight seals. But why do you want those? Just switch to a stirring TEK if you need to. Because rubber seals are dissolved by naphtha and end up polluting your end product. How long have you been extracting DMT / smoking it?

@ DoingKermit: I will look for these jugs then soon Pleased And indeed: those jars have rubbers seals..

@ VoidTraveller: Luckily, this is my first tek and I have never smoked it before Pleased

Any thoughts on the disappearing napta?

-This happened to someone else, NaOH can easily dissolve or weaken glass especially when in high concentrations. I dunno what happened to your naptha though??

The mystery of the disappearing naphtha has also been solved. He actually read somewhere that he could replace naphtha with ether, and so he did. Which explains why he had no separation layer as the ether instantly vaporized when surfacing.

He got himself a proper bottle of naphtha for his last bit of MHRB, so we'll see.
