ive been making a 10x caapi for some changa. 50 grams were in a jar with a litre of 99%IPA, now its time to evap and ive got the liquid in a pyrex pan. im getting green lines on the sids of the dish which is just what i figured would happen. im figureing that i can scrape up all the green extract once its dry then add it to 5 grams of fresh caapi. does this sound right? should i add my 5 grams of leaf now?...thanks astralspice attached the following image(s): IMG00090-20111027-1957.jpg (364kb) downloaded 89 time(s).REALITY 5.0

You could put the caapi to be infused at any time but I think its better to add it when there's a bit less solvent left, just enough to completely soak the caapi and a bit more.. Also its hard to tell the dimension of your container but it might be too big, this means once its near the end, the caapi will only cover a small portion of your pyrex dish, while part of your infused herbs will be evaporating somewhere in the dish where there isnt any herb, so you'll have to scrape it all up and mix well.
By the way, where did you read about using IPA? We should really change this because IPA is actually quite a horrible solvent for harmalas, better use ethanol (or methanol is even better for dissolving but its toxic, so make sure its evaporated completely if you use it)

yea ive read up on using IPA some said its bad and some say its good, i didnt know who to beleive and i already had some IPA on hand. im hoping i get a decent product out of this experiment because my mimosa extraction is not producing much spice. but in your experience do you think that this green stuff will dry so i can scrape it up, dump it into a smaller container with herbs added and possibly some ethanol? Water is probably going to be your best solvent for making 10x caapi. You can accomplish this by simply simmering your 50grams of caapi in water for an hour or two. do this three times and then combine the three boils then reduce, add your five grams, and allow it to evap. Thats it in a nutshell. Others may give you some variation to this as far as how long it should boil each time. This may not be the easiest/quickest method, but it is probably the most effeective method. Ice House is an alter ego. Wow, I never heard ab water extraction for the 10x caapi!! This is actually a lot more expedient than doing a 30 day soak in IPA/acetone/ethanol. I'm assuming vine has more alks than leave so should we brew vine as we would aya then reduce down and put in our leaves and wait for evap?
