Help with increasing yield with zinc and 5-MeO-DMT plants? o.O Options

Heya guys SWIM has a couple questions that has been drifting through his mind recently and thought where better to ask than the Nexus? [:

SWIM has heard about a zink wash being used to convert oxides back into DMT to increase yield and even potentially double yield. Swim has done some searching to find more information on this but cannot seem to find much more on the subject due to limited internet and paranoia (public library internet). Any information or links would be massively appreciated [:

Also Swim has been using Noman's tek for a while now for MHRB extraction with happy results but now is very interested in looking into 5-MEO plants. Any idea of where to start with 5-MeO-DMT? Is there a particular plant that is as easy to obtain online as MHRB that contains only 5-MeO-DMT? So far SWIM has been overwhelmed by a really big list of Acacia and various other plants and doesn't know where to start Confused

Any and all information is greatly appreciated Smile
Hope you all have as amazingly self revealing journeys as swim has and share the love and learning Wink

Cheers

Well here's the thing, there has been some talk regarding n-oxides and zinc reduction helping yieds but very little actual tests AFAIK. I mean, maybe the amount of n-oxide in plants is negligible to begin with. Or maybe only if stored in really unpropper conditions would any significant amount form? Who knows...

I wrote a little about n-oxides here:

https://www.dmt-nexus.me...&m=281444#post281444

A test that would really help would be, extracting side by side some old mimosa, half doing the zinc reduction on the acidic step, half not doing it, then extracting it and comparing yields. Often people dont take care and many variables are different so its hard to really compare.

Just make an acetic acid solution that contains your alkaloids, add excess zinc dust, mix for half an hour to a couple of hours, filter, add base, extract with solvent, and there you go Smile

5-MeO-DMT-N-oxide does exist, but AFAIK its only been found in traces in plants. Maybe plants you would extract from wouldnt have it in the first place. You could always do a side-by-side and test, if you do get some 5-Meo plant source

So far there are many plants found with traces of 5-MeO-DMT, but I dont think its gonna be easy for you to find some plant with good 5-MeO profile and plenty availability like mimosa has DMT. A few plants have been found with significant amout of 5-MeO-DMT:

Anadenanthera peregrina bark has been found with 0.025%, up to 0.4% 5-MeO-DMT. Together with 5-MeO-DMT there were other substances such as NMT (active) and 5-MeO-NMT (potentially active, but unknown), and to separate them one would need some sort of chromatography work.

Desmodium pulchellum, stem and leaf of mature plant, has been found with 1.1% alkaloids, 34% of which were 5-MeO-DMT (I will try to dig up the source to see what where the other alkaloids)

Virola theiodora snuffs (made of the dried, powdered resin of the plant, which is often traditionally mixed with some base such as calcium oxide/hydroxide) has been found with 0.5 to up to 10% 5-MeO-DMT (!!!). Analysis of the bark only reported from 0.062 to 0.1% 5-MeO-DMT, but the natives dont use whole bark for snuff, just the resin. That might be one of the best bets in terms of plant source for 5-MeO but to find someone selling it might not be easy. Also remember that vendors might not really know well about plant identification, so thats another factor to take in account.

In some places in south america it would be easier to find of course, maybe finding a local vendor that ships it to you would be a potential way (learn how to speak spanish/portuguese, search the internet, call places/send emails).

Im currently on the search of one brazilian local variety of anadenanthera peregrina which should have good 5-MeO-DMT content in the seeds but still nothing. One I do get it Ill get it analysed and will share the results.

Good luck and let us know how it goes for you Smile

Awesome thankyou for the info [: There is some 1-2 year old P. Viridis which was inactive in a 100g Caapi 50g P. Viridis brew which mainly led to the curiosity about the zinc. Will try side by side tests with the P. Viridis and will also do some side by side experiments on some MHRB. SWIM doesn't have old MHRB but will do some side by side experiments anyway to see if there actually is any increase in yield. So the zinc should be added in the acidified stage then? And any idea on how much zinc should be used at all?

And SWIM will look into the mentioned plants. Does 5-MeO-DMT act like DMT in an xtraction?

N-oxide is psychoactive, in a similar strenght as DMT (if you take out the oxygen molecule's weight). Also, n-oxide is soluble in acidic solutions, so it would have been present in your brew and would have resulted in psychoactive effects. My guess is your P. viridis is just weak (which is quite possible, viridis has been found from basically no dmt, up to around 0.35% DMT).

Try using twice the amount of viridis instead.

As for 5-MeO-DMT solubility, check here: https://wiki.dmt-nexus.m...rties#Freebase_5-MeO-DMT

I would extract it with something like Limonene or similar, and then salt out, to make sure its soluble. Naphtha/hexane might be good to re-x but it might be poor as the solvent used first in the extraction. We need more tests to know for sure.

As for how much zinc, publications always say "excess".. I dont know, just use like, a gram of zinc per 5g original plant material (probably way more than necessary?).
