am at a friends house hes performing an stb, we have some Finish special dishwasher salt, it says 99% pure yet NOWHERE on the packet can i actualy find out what it is. is it Sodium carbonate? its water softner aswell.... just double checking before he goes and washes his stuff. Also the internet provided fuck all.

You can buy sodium bicarbonate in supermarket or pharmacies or convenience stores and you put it in the oven for a couple of hours, it will become sodium carbonate.

Also, please next time use the thread title to sum up the content of your thread, otherwise this becomes a selfish thread and it wont help others who might have a similar question in the future. Communication isnt supposed to be one way, please think of others.

Tesco sell Soda Crystal (Washing soda, sodium carbonate) Only a pound or two for a kilo, will last you forever Smile Look near the laundry stuff.

Or you can turn sodium bicarbonate into just carbonate like endlessness suggests

That stuff is only 30% sodium carbonate though. Not sure what the other 70% is...

That's a very good point! I've been using it for a while now, emptied the bag into a jar so I don't have the packet anymore but I just looked it up online and it says it contains greater than 30% NaCa2.

It still seems to have worked so far. Hmmm maybe I should stop using it though. Going to search around and see if I can find out what else is in it.
