Please see 69ron's post for the various beta-carbolines
http://www.dmt-nexus.me/....aspx?g=posts&t=2008Tetrahydroharman is actually a 6-MeO-tetrahydroharmine, and is suspected to be potent. No cheap sources of tetrahydroharman exist however so it has not been widely assayed. But this may be due to change in the future.
EDIT:
Elaeagnus angustifolia may actually be a really good source of beta-carbolines.
The Bark of the tree is a rich source of alkaloids. According to Duke's Ethnobotanical database the badk contains the beta carbolines:
2-METHYL-1,2,3,4-TETRAHYDRO-BETA-CARBOLINE
N(B)-METHYL-TETRAHYDROHARMOL
TETRAHYDROHARMAN and
TETRAHYDROHARMOL
The bark on the other hand contains some other alkaloids as well. None however with spurious or toxic activities.
