Hi All - I've been following the Nexus for months now as I started on my own adventure with the wonderful spice. The experimentation continues so it's great to have this community and all the knowledgeable folks who are so generous with their experiences. It's much appreciated for those of us who are still learning to crawl.
No breakthrough yet unfortunately. SWIM's been trying to get used to the GVG after training the throat to handle spice and spearmint in a pipe. It's smoother for sure. However, after recrystallization with Bestine, there seems to be little to no effect at all. From 27mg to 70mg The spice is fluffy white but non-recrystallized DMT seemed to be more potent even if it wasn't very pure.
Has anyone had the potency drop after recrystallization? Is it possible that purer DMT needs a different technique in a GVG? The way it was used was with three screens to prevent crystals from falling through and that's it. To be honest, any tips on using the GVG would be great since it's a different animal for beginners. SWIM doesn't want to go back to the harshness of the pipe but longs for the beauty of the breakthrough. Hopefully soon! Thanks! Prone to made-up, outlandish gibberish. Any coherent words or full sentences are purely coincidental. Jigganaut does none of these things. It's not experience, it's delirious.

There is loads of info on using the GVG if you just search, does sound like your technique is off if your smoking 70mg with no effect. Potency has never dropped for me with recrystallization either. Black then white are all I see in my infancy. Red and yellow then came to be, reaching out to me, lets me see. There is so much more and it beckons me to look though to these, infinite possibilities. As below so above and beyond I imagine, drawn outside the lines of reason. Push the envelope. Watch it bend.

That's your problem, your spice is bleeding through. You should follow gibran2's advice and make a metal mesh disc. To see the world in a grain of sand, and to see heaven in a wild flower, hold infinity in the palm of your hands, and eternity in an hour. - William Blake

Thank you for the suggestions! A metal mesh disc was used but there are some Caapi leaves on the way. Maybe a small layer of leaves under and on top of the spice will keep material from slipping through. There should be a update this evening. Prone to made-up, outlandish gibberish. I use a modified volcano liquid pad. Seems to work fine.

I've always used pads of unaltered herbs in a similar fashion to how many use the volcano liquid pad, and with great results.Whether it's a result of changing the taste or the actual chemical composition of the herbs, or simply the fact that DMT is that unpredictable, I find that different herbs lend different feels to each experience, much as with changa. Cut and sifted flowers, such as damiana or mugwort have proven to be most effective, ime, while caapie or passionflower leaves can allow for leakage if not properly arranged. If you take the time to make sure they are packed in with no gaps, it should work fine. I'm just getting the classic VG figured out. I knew instantly that it was the way to go, but then I think I dropped the amount of heat I was applying too much. I've been increasing the heat and dialing in my inhalation technique and that's had a noticeable effect.
Inhalation technique I've been working with- I stopped filling my lungs 100% and now shoot for about 75%. That's much more comfortable to hold for 30 seconds. Therefore, when the dmt is coming on and I exhale, I don't huff and puff like I've been underwater for too long. I've found that I can also "top off" my lungs with air through the nose after about 15 sec.

Thanks everyone for the great suggestions. It's definitely a learning process and I agree that the GVG is the way to go. The first experiences used a good ol' fashioned pipe and the burning sensation was tough. I have a nice mix of herbs coming this evening like Mullein, Caapi, and Damiana. Looking to explore the different properties of each at different times when mixed with the spice. When using pads of unaltered herbs, is there a ratio to be mindful of? At the moment, it's been eye-balled- just enough to keep material from falling through the screen and covered until the white spice can't been seen. Can there be too much herb or does the GVG bowl a good guide for how much to work with? Prone to made-up, outlandish gibberish. Any coherent words or full sentences are purely coincidental.
