Can calcium hydroxide be substituted for sodium carbonate to basify rue salts?

calcium hydroxide is poorly soluble in water. I never tried it but what will probably happen is there will be a lot of undissolved calcium hydroxide that will contaminate your final product or it wont raise the pH high enough because of not dissolving well, etc.
Whats the problem with sodium carbonate? everybody can find sodium bicarbonate and turn it into carbonate by baking for 2 hours in the oven on max.

Yeah no problem with it, just wondering because i have some calcium hydroxide at the moment and figured it would be easier to use that then buy some baking soda but looks like thats what needs to be done. Don't wanna mess up those precious harmalas
