could i use a cider press to extract or filter the wet bark...i was thinking wrapping it in a large cloth filter and putting it into a wine/cider press....the only problem is since i'm extracting bark w methanol...what kind of reaction would it have with the wood; a similar material to that which i'm extracting?...please tell me it would be safe; wouldnt cause contamination.Wut? Rolling eyes

I'd stick with a wet teeshirt.

You shouldn't be processing more mimiosa than a tee-shirt can handle.

i use a sheer peice of cloth that was left-over from when my wife made curtains...works good but i can barely open my hands the next day from wringing and wringing(i have a little arthritus)...not to mention tworwd the end i have no strength left
it's not that i process so much...it's just i'm looking for a simpler solution
work smart...not hard!

It is not a bad idea, but why ruin your press? Whether it is water or methanolic extract some will be adsorbed on the wood and possibly ruin the taste of future grape/apple presses. Methanol may also extract previous adsorbents from the press towards the mhrb extract.

A cider/wine press is a very nice and valuable tool and does not come cheaply. Why take the risk.
