I can't seem to find it in stores anywhere, the only way to get it seems to be ordering it, which I'd rather not do. Bunnings, and other hardware stores don't stock it, and I've come across sellers saying you need to present idea in person to purchase.


Closest i've seen is drain cleaner that contains 55% w/w lye. Can I make it work? Could I extract the lye, or is there some other way I can get my lye?

There are other names for it. Caustic soda is what you are looking for in the shop that begins with B. If asked about it, say it's for soap making.
