New strings? Stretch them out. Tuning is the same as a 6 string, go bottom to top and keep doing it until everything's solid.
At the center of this existence, it is everything and nothing, all of us and each of us and none of us. My light is now lit, and it cannot be extinguished.

EADGBE, partner strings are just an octave higher in same tuning so it would be Ee,Aa,Dd,Gg,Bb,Ee with lower case letters being an octave higher.

I believe the B and high E partner strings are just identical. The rest are an octave higher though. Just picked up a nice Seagull 12 string myself Smile

thanks for the help guys! i'm really new to the guitar but i find even random strumming helps influence my ability to sing and for some reason i become really confident with the harmony of the guitar; even really really bad guitar playing LOL which i'm good at doing so!

also i don't know how to read/tell music notes; but if someone can provide some resources for learning how to read music and tell what notes sound like what that would actually be really interesting to look into.

Try youtube searching every guitar doubt you have and you'll find a video with the answer, much easier to visualize and learn. That's how I learned playing the guitar Smile

Ugh, 12 string guitars are a nightmare to tune correctly by ear, I feel your pain Laughing
Once I bought my 12 string acoustic I finally broke down and bought a little clip-on tuner. Makes it so easy to keep it sounding beautiful. 12 string guitars sound dreadful when they slip out of tune just a little because there's a lot of harmonizing going on with the two strings tuned to the same note.

Here's my tuner, it's Snark brand. $20 at my local music shop.

it's worth it to buy a cheap tuner Or if you computer/iphone has a microphone,
there are many sites with free tuner software. Here is the first one on google.

Also, if you can get the E-string tuned, there's a way to tune the other strings.

Yeah. I try to get the top e as best I can and then tune to that using that fifth fret method. Ry easy once u get it by ear.
