Ethanol, isopropyl, and acetone are completely interchangable, no pulling from a tea with these solvents as they are miscible with water, these are drytek only. The steps you are missing is the redissolve in acidic water, rebase, and re-pull making that tek a b/a/b. Sure the veg oil tek works fine, as with all the approaches on this site, go with what works best for your understanding and available resources.
