So I'm researching the Mysterious substance of DMT, and I'm about 99% convinced that I'll try it. I will probably create a version of "The Machine" to aid me in my journey.
My question is, can I make the machine out of a beer bottle (with a slim neck)? Every bit of writing about it states that a small, single serving, liquor bottle is best. Wouldn't a bigger bottle cool the air a bit more?
love to hear your thoughts on this.
cheers!

I tried a 1 liter bottle before, with poor results. "Whoever undertakes to set himself up as a judge of Truth and Knowledge is shipwrecked by the laughter of the gods." Albert Einstein

Could it be because you first take a full liter of air before the actual DMT loaded air enters your lungs? My theory is that you should first fill the "chamber" with DMT loaded air by pulling just with your mouth (not breathing in) and then take the hit. Ofcourse, I haven't even tried smoking it out of a smaller bottle so this is just a theory

nah... not worth it the surface area for the wool is too big.. it doesn't vaporize properly for me. Runs around, too many places for it to hide. If you cant find the liquor bottles, you might wanna try those small food coloring bottles or even a straight glass tube (like with a 10 mm opening) good luck With every great plan comes the pleasure of patience. Take a rest, and grab a suckle off the teat of life!

I'd guess it would pose the same problem as making a bong with a chamber that's too large. You simply won't have the lung capacity to pull in that volume of air/smoke, so you'll have to keep toking and the results will be underwhelming.

Go with the single serving bottles.. If your vaping correctly the temperature of the smoke/vapor should not really be an issue Much more portable too, easier to stash and as mentioned utilises just the right amount of (coarse) steel wool for your needs. They can be a bugger to crack without the right tools though

You all convinced me to get the single serving bottle. I bought one today and made a hole in the bottom of +-5mm. Now the question of steel wool arrises, there are actually 2 kinds and I don't know wich one to take. 1 kind is the very dense kind wich you buy at a home depot, and there is the rougher kind that is used for cleaning.
The rougher wool seems best to me because the other, more dense, wool actually catches fire a little when you light it... any recommendations?

Chore boy. Little copper scrub pads. Cut off the appropriately sized bit, burn off the oil it's coated with whilst holding the bit with metal tongs, tweezers, scissors or something. This forum is full of good info and it has a search function. "Whoever undertakes to set himself up as a judge of Truth and Knowledge is shipwrecked by the laughter of the gods." Albert Einstein

Here in the UK we seem to have two main types.. Coarse and fine. Coarse is like 2.5mm thickness (approx) and looks like flat cable whereas the fine stuff looks more like thin cotton thread. "Mom and Pop" style Hardware store unbranded stuff is usually the best option. Go for the coarse (fine heats up too fast and is usually coated with crap). Coarse is usually free of any surfactants or detergents (unless stated otherwise) however I always dip mine in acetone, let it evap/dry off then burn over a decent flame before giving it a nice circular rub between my palms and sticking in the end of my machine. Overkill perhaps but I prefer idea of removing any potential particulates

First one looks OK...but I would go a bit thicker...make sure to burn it well to clear it of contaminants, then wash it. Have a look Here...The fine wool that burns is a def no no...fire waiting to happen. Please do not PM tek related questions Reserve the right to change your mind at any given moment.

Ah, thats actually a very smart method, I'll measure the bottle neck tonight and see if I can find some of those screens to fit it. I'm pretty sure the Rough steelwool would work then. Yesterday I tried the machine without dmt but with the rougher wool (burned clean), just to see if I'm hitting it correctly. I noticed the glass near your mouth actually gets really hot. I guess thats why I was thinking about a bigger bottle. Any tips on not burning the mouth region?

Good topic. I guess I'll try adding a glas straw to it (I have a mflb and the glas stem seems perfect for this) I can't post to that post yet (seedling) but I would like to ask him about the glue holding the screen. He keeps the cap on when smoking, and has a screen inside the cap, seems to me that you would heat the glue when smoking from it.. I feel like I almost have all ingredients, the only concern is wether the bottle neck is too tight to load it properly. I have to push the steel wool in pretty hard. After preparing for a few weeks I feel like my trip to hyperspace is getting closer and closer. I guess the preparation is halve the fun

The heat doesn't affect it...only a few seconds needed to vape 20mg...so not much heat at all. Please do not PM tek related questions Reserve the right to change your mind at any given moment.

You say that it doesn't heat up enough for the glue to melt, then I wonder how long is a hit with 20mg? I'm used to vaping from a mflb and you can take very long hits.
Maybe I should try making a metal cap for my liquor bottle version. I can't use the original cap, Its painted black, seems unsafe to me.

eehj , n hollander Beerbottle size does the trick for me , but use a clear/transparant glass bottle so you can see the vapour. Drill a 8mm hole in the bottom , put the "straw of a ballpointpen in the hole as sucking straw. Replace it regularly or use a glass straw you can clean. Put stainless steel mesh(die groffe om je bbq, oven mee te poetsen) in the neck , just enough to fill the neck of the bottle. Make sure the mesh is clean , i put it in boiloing water for a while and then rinse it torroughly with water. You can prevent the mesh from falling into the bottle by putting a long pencil through the hole in the bottom to get the mesh stuck in the neck of the bottle. fijne reis ps: voor meer info mag je wel pm,en

Ok so I got the coarse steelwool and burned it clean with a gasburner. Is it normal that the air that runs through the machine still tastes like metal?
