I could not find much info on what to do with a planted plant that a cutting is taken from. All I found was to cut it at an angle so that water does not remain stagnate on the cut. Is there anything else I should do to the remaining stalk? Or just leave it alone? Attatched is a picture of the cutting and the remaining stalk. It was rotting or something and I think the blemish was inhibiting growth. I still want to try and plant the tip after it starts rooting of course.

nothing to do w/stump but keep it dry until the cut callouses over//
the blemish probably wouldn't slow it down too much. cutting it will though for sure!
next time wait it out
