First off I apologize creating an entirely new post. Since I am new to this site I believe this is one of the few places I am able to post?

With that said, this tek mentioned that ascorbic acid is used.
Is hydrochloric acid an ok substitute?
If it is would this lead me to similar results?
Greater yield? Smaller yield? Require more steps?
