After the first extraction yielded almost nothing and was 95% barely active goo SWIM decided to give it another go. Wanted to post what I did differently and I'll update my other threads with the link to this one for future.
100-125g's of same acrb root bark that was used before. Its already shredded and didn't powder it.
Only added enough vinegar to reach ph of 3-4. It doesn't take much at all. Barely any really.
Instead of doing boils and reducing SWIM decided to use less water and aimed for 1:15 bark to water. Its approximate but I'd say its around 1:12. Didn't boil only simmer so there's not much reduction in volume and added some table salt but didn't weight it. Half of a regular sized shaker. Ended up leaving all the acid cook water together with the bark overnight but only because it was late. Filtered one time into extraction vessel next morning.
Added water in a sauce pan and dissolved quite a bit of sodium hydroxide. Added that to extraction vessel. Waited until it cooled off a bit and shook around to mix a bit. Waited a bit longer for it to cool.
Once the jar felt like it was around 105-110f the naphtha was added but not measured. Enough to where enough can be sucked off with turkey baster. The non polar layer is around 1 inch at this point.
Shook and rolled the jar for about 1-1.5 min at a time then let it sit for around 5-6 minutes between mixes. Separates very quickly. After this pulled as much naphtha as possible and put in wide shallow pyrex dish. Naphtha was very cloudy already just like before.
The idea SWIM had was to combine the first few pulls and let some evaporate then into the freezer. In the middle of second mixing stage SWIM noticed xtals growing in the dish already! This is all within 30 minutes or so. This is why the title says success. Should be golden on this one.
Can't even guess what went wrong with the first one but could be not enough water?
On the next pulls the soup and naphtha will be heated. Thanks for everyone's help! Hopefully this helps someone.
