In Cyb's tek for the first pull it states that the Naphtha can take almost an hour to separate and then you are to repeat the agitation/separation stage 4 more times before making the pull, the next 4 sets should take 45 mins total.

Well my first agitation separated really quick(less that 5 mins) and was nearly clear in color, and now my subsequent agitations are taking way longer, ive been doing them for like an hour and a half now, and the layer that settles on top is getting smaller and smaller and darker in color, can anyone let me know if I am doing something wrong? In the tek it states the next 4 agitations should take 45 mins, and now theyre taking like a half hour each! This is my first one and I just want to make sure I am getting it right!

Thanks, cheers Big grin

Don't shake it because it can form an emulsion, just turn it end over end not too fast. Also you should use the amount of water on the tek or else it could be too dense and the naphtha takes too much time to separate.

Cyb's tek is pretty good, the added salt increases yield and also helps to avoid emulsions.

I just rolled it lightly in a bike pedal motion and figure 8's, didn't shake it up, and I followed all ingredient directions according to the tek. What does an emulsion look like?
my naphtha is getting darker with each agitation, I am on the last one, just waiting for it to separate. How come the first time it separated so fast and now the subsequent agitations are taking so long? It seems to be happening opposite to what the tek said! Not panicking yet but it just seems strange to me.

Thanks for your reply Smile

Naphtha is a darkish red color now... and about half as tall as when I first added it, should I siphon it off now? Looks alot darker than Cyb's Naphtha when he is siphoning it off in the pics in his tek.

Siphoned naphtha off into a dish and it was yellow in color, not dark red, seems fine!

Cyb, if you read this i would appreciate some feedback, my first pull was yellow in color, although it seemed saturated. not cloudy white like yours though. I will post some more pics as i run through this. How can i get he heavy cloudy white first pull like yours?
