Swim heard zippo fluid works for extraction, when swim tried a evap test it worked fine, then towards the end of the bottle it left a really gummy almost rubber residue.

Does zippo work as a naphtha alternative, No way of getting vm&p naphtha where i live.

So assuming zippo is naptha will it work?

Is there other brands that work better?
Is it clean?
Does it have any other chemicals swim should be worried about?

swim will do freeze precipitaion if that matters.

Zippo is better than naptha imho. It evaps faster and seems to work better in recrystallizing for SWIM. Also costs more.

I use those yellow bottles of ronsonol lighter fluid and they work just fine.

I have seen an amount of Ronsonol evaporated in a small glass jar and it left no discernible residue. I don't know about Zippo but I cannot say the same for Newport.

Always worth evaporating a small amount (1/8th to 1/6th of a bottle) to see what, if anything, gets left over.
