Hi everyone,

i am using normans tek for a guideline for extracting from san pedro
i have 80g of cactus powder mixed with 60g sodium hydroxide and 650ml of water and 60ml naptha
i have been agitating it for a few days and now its settled, there is a little layer right under my naptha layer and was wondering if my alkaloids are in just the naptha or do i need that layer right under my naptha also? i will take some pictures once my camera is charged up
Thanks

The little layer under the naptha is an emulsion layer of water and naptha. There will be some alks in it but really not much at all.

so best to pull the naptha and leave as much if not all the emulsion layer remaining inside the jar?

naptha will not pull mescaline, it however is defatting your basic substrate

ditch the naptha and start over with xylene, toulene, or dlimo

Definitly save the naptha though for safe measure until you are all the way done with your extraction and are sure there is no mescaline in it.

thanks for all the advice!

problem being is i am located in California and am very restricted on my chemicals.

d-limonene i guess would be my best option in substitute for naptha

i did a mimosa hostilis extraction and used the same naptha (ronsonal lighter fluid) as i am in this pedro extration and it worked...kinda..the first pull was succesful but i had not learned at the time that shaking the crap out of the jar was not the right thing to do and i ended up with a VERY thick layer of emulsion under the naptha and when i seperated it via seperatory funnel i believe the amount of emulsion to the amount of spice was way overpowering and when i smoked it nothing happen. the first pull worked but not nearly as pure as i would like it to be. not quite hyperspace worthy like the first time i tried spice (bought it from a guy...PURE crystals, Hyperspaced light years out of the concept of time and space into the realm of aliens and gods of infinit knowledge) i have been researching and waiting for the right time i have the knowledge ability to re-create that purity level and return to that magnificent place

naptha will not pull mescaline. period. dont use ronsonol lighter fluid! have you ever done an evaporation test with it?! theres a weird residue left behind, i wouldnt use it to fuel my lighter even.

i would suggest you get dlimo/xylene/toulene for your cacti, as naptha will not work, i promise you

it will if it's heavy naphtha (contains aromatics)

" i don't think naphta is the desired non-polar solvent for this extraction

i think d-limonene, xylene or toluene would do the trick though "

I also live in cali and there are places that still sell xylene, check ALL the local hardware stores. Sometimes its labeled xylol

yea, that won't work, but varsol will.

i cant find varsol anywhere. looks like dlimonene really is my only option. everyone agree d-limonene is a good non polar solvent to extract with?

The problem is that most air quality districts in California (definitely Southern California) have banned the sale of several solvents because of restrictions on volatile organic compounds (VOCs). The only way to acquire these would be to purchase them online or to go out of state, e.g. Arizona, and stock up.

Naphtha is definitely not the solvent for mescaline extraction. Xylene is the cheapest to get, but it smells. d-limonene is safer, doesn't smell and is food-safe, but it also doesn't evaporate as well when it gets carried over with your salting. Toluene also works well and smells better than xylene, but it is not as available.

Since it hasn't been explicitly stated yet, I highly recommend 69ron's extraction tek for your mescaline needs. It uses food safe ingredients that are easy to acquire most places in the US. The thread detailing the extraction can be found here:

D-limonene is hands down the best way to go.
