I've never understood why everyone thinks that you can't use a sep funnel with an STB.
Dump everything through a strainer, use the funnel to separate the aqueous from the NP, add the aqueous back to the bark.
It's not really that tough, a lot easier than bullshitting around with a turkey baster and syringe.

It's not that you can't, it's that it's messy. The aqueous sticks to the glass, not as bad with A/B, but the STB sludge can be thick to where you can't even see the separation. I agree though that basters and syringes are horrible for NP, but a proper glass pipette and 3-way bulb can pull it off the top no problem. After pipetting, it can then be put into a sep funnel or graduated cylinder to get a better separation. Another reason is because I don't like working with a high pH sticky sludge, moving it between containers, accidents happen. Once it's in the container it stays there until it goes down the drain.
