I used the marsofold tek 2 times, just how it was made, but then I decided to combine both liquids and reduce it down to about 2.5 liters, when I pulled with naphtha, more oils and fats than usual were visible in the dish when I was ready to freeze precipitate. If I had DMT/Naphtha evaporating in a dish, after a little while I could see little oil bubbles on the bottom of the dish and I used a few different dishes too when I was pouring the naphtha off from the oil bubbles.
So I just want to know if a defat on mimosa would be helpful for next time I do this (reduce liquid down), I like working with as little solution as I can, and I think it just pulled more fats/oils because the solution is just more concentrated now.

I have not tried to de-fat but I have found that using vinegar seems to pull out way more unwanted oils than do other acids such as fumaric or ascorbic, vinegar also smells bad IMO and is annoying to work with. And why do you look at the speck in your brother's eye, but do not percieve the plank in your own eye? Or how can you say to your brother, "brother let me remove the speck from your eye", when you yourself do not see the plank that is in your own eye?-Yeshua ben Yoseph

IMO defat is totally unnecessary, very wasteful process unless you have a distillation apparatus. A little bit extra oils will do what, at most leave your DMT yellow? A simple re-x with small amount of solvent will easily take care of that, much less solvent needed, much less work and hasle, much more effective... Just what I think

Yeah maybe that's it then, good thing I got some HCl acid for the next batch then.

Just what I think Guess you're right, I was getting ready to do a recrystallization later anyway I just wanted to also see if it would work so I could scrape the DMT easier once it's been evaporated all the way.

Quote:Yeah maybe that's it then, good thing I got some HCl acid for the next batch then. - keep in mind that HCl is even more of a pain to work with because you cannot let it touch metal, fumes etc.. I also think it is so strong your likely to get even more plant oils out than with vinegar. And why do you look at the speck in your brother's eye, but do not percieve the plank in your own eye? What would you say is the overall best acid to use? I've always just used vinegar and lemon juice.
