Ok so I have a couple of questions that I'm having trouble finding the answer to. Im gonna post the steps of the tek and list my question by the number I'm having trouble understanding? Step 1 - Grind Seeds Step 2 - Boil Seeds Step 3 - Clean Brew 3a - Settle & Decant 3b - Filter, Filter, Filter! Step 4 - Reduce Step 5 - Base.......What kind of dilution should I make to pour into the Harmalas. 1g of lye per ml, or 1 g of Sodium Carbonate per 10ml, Is that to much, because I really have no idea on this step? Step 6 - Manske.....Im thinking this is Freebase? Step 7 - Filter Step 8 - Redissolve Step 9 - Manske Step 10 - Filter Step 11 - Base & Separate Step 12 - Finish up So where is the Freebase and where is the HCL because I want to use both forms? Thanks for all the help guys and sorry if I missed this somewhere

It says in the tao of rue tek itself, in the harmala extraction guide, and in the FAQ extraction overview, that when you add a base and have a high pH, your alkaloids will always be in freebase form (so step 5 in this case). And when you add acid, it will be in salt form (and in the manske, they precipitate as their Hydrochloride salts).
As for lye, you'll probably only need a couple of grams of lye for the whole thing to be totally basified and high enough pH for alkaloids to precipitate, so you could dissolve for example 3-5 grams lye in, say, 50ml water, and add that slowly to the harmala mix till it stops changing color, and let it precipitate. After retrieving your alkaloids, you can always try to add some more lye to see if anything more precipitates

Thank you so much endlessness you keep coming to my rescue. After reading your comment Ive gone back over the tek and still can't find where the distinction is made between Freebase and HCL, unless alkaloid=freeebase ( I do see Freebase and Alkaloid noted in step 5). Also I don't see the FAQ Extraction overview you mentioned. I guess I'm not familiar enough with all the terms even after working with spice extractions for a couple of months now, and the fact that the tek goes back and forth so many times and includes so many crystal formations added to my confusion. I can't imagine how this doesn't keep coming up because I was really confused as to whats what. The tek is amazing but I can't help but think a note at the beginning of each step stating what form will be precipitated out at the end of that step would alleviate a lot of confusion, thats my only criticism of the tek. Once again thanks Endlessness!!

Here you go: Tao of Rue wrote: Step 5- After you have boiled, reduced and cleaned at least 3 pulls/boils you want to perform the first freebase of the molecules.
Step 6 - after you filter the harmala hcl. FAQ wrote: https://wiki.dmt-nexus.me/FAQ#Where_to_start.3F DMT in an acidic solution is in salt form and therefore water soluble, while DMT in a basic solution becomes a freebase and not water soluble but rather soluble in non-polar solvents (like limonene, naphtha, xylene, etc). This works similarly to most other alkaloids, with a few exceptions, for example harmalas freebase dont dissolve in the solvents mentioned above, but when you add a base to a solution containing harmalas, they just precipitate and you can filter them.
