So I have a dish of DMT fumarate (from a FASW pull) and a good bit of unreacted fumaric acid. It burned my fingertips.

So I added water as per the instructions here https://wiki.dmt-nexus.me/FASA_A...on_of_Final_Purification but I'm not entirely clear.

I add water, stir it up and crystals begin to precip. These (I assume) are dmt fumarate, the unreated fumaraic acid is in the water.

Can I just wait till the solids have all precipitated, then use a baster to seperate the water and acid?

You have it backwards. Precipitate is unreacted fumaric acid and impurities. Water holds the DMT fumarate. Decant and save water, let evaporate and collect the crystals that remain.
