I performed an acid/base tek last week following the DMT handbook.

1.5kg of leaves/stems were blended to a near powder then acid cooked for 1.5 hours 3 times. Then reduced from 7L down to 4L

Left to cool down for 15mins then 200gms of caustic soda was added to 2L of the liquid (I split the 4L into 2 containers for easier extraction)

after mixing I added 100ml of naptha and mixed for about 20mins. I did this 3 times then placed everything into the freezer.

The naptha was yellowy/clear when I pulled it from the base liquid. then after a little while it became cloudy with yellow fibres. I thought this was spice but nothing crystalised

After lots of waiting in the freezer (3 days) I seem to have pulled Lots of stuff but nothing of interest.

The glass was covered in yellow stuff which I thought might have been spice but After drying and wating for all naptha to evaporate, then scraping it all up it seems to just be realllllly waxy yellow/brown plant wax/oils.

I am still waiting for my test kit in the mail so couldn't test it but I really doubt that this stuff is anyting but waxy oils.

I did a re-x and it just reduced the amount of yellow stuff and after freezing then drying that again it just scrapes up to the same waxy smelling stuff again.

A previous extract yeilded the tiniest bit of spice that smelt great so i used the same method again with alot of fresh plant and this time nothing.

The one thing I feel might of been the problem is the pH. I now have test strips and during this extract i was able to test the basfied liquid and it seemed to only be a pH of 11.

I have kept all the liquid and am going to add ALOT of caustic soda to the liquid and see if i can get it up to a pH of 13 or 14. and then try extracting it again.

The plant is still the elusive Petalostylis cassioides that seems to be very untested except for what I have done so far, and so I am wondering if different times of year would yeild different results. this has all been collected during the nice warm autumn months.

So i'm just after some of the communities expert advice on my future endeavours.
