SWIM is happy that he finally found the time and energy to start figuring out his problems. Please excuse any unpleasant or generally unwanted things SWIM let loose and point them out.

A lot of the basic teks SWIM used were from a Shroomery member called "Nature Boy". Generally SWIM did not encounter a lot problems during the whole procedure. SWIM used clean solvent which is sold for medical use, got a nice 2000cc flask and did not differ from what the teks told him.

The first very small batch did not have any visible impurities in it so SWIM skipped the "sodium carbonate wash", crystallized it and was left with a very nice final product for his first steps. The second batch differed quite a bit and was visibly impure but SWIM did not really care about the NaOH impurities he caught and went ahead and crystallized it. Because he was very unhappy with the final product of the second batch when he smoked it he resolved it and performed a "carbonate wash" as described (1g Na2OH3 / 20cc H2O). When he tried to crystallize the DMT afterward all he got was a slimy redish substance which took incredibly long to dry.

Yet SWIM did not try the "red stuff" he got there neither does he really know what it is. Any help on where exactly he screwed up and what the redish stuff is would be greatly appreciated.

PS.: Generally SWIM also wanted to recrystallize the product with Heptane after the wash.

Im not sure what exactly happened there, but if I were you I would indeed try to recrystallize and see what you get out of it.

Dont throw anything away, as you can always recover if something goes wrong.

This thread mentions an old IPA+Sodium Carbonate tek that yields a reddish brown freebase oil "contaminated with excess sodium carbonate". I don't know if it might be relevant.

The stuff in the thread Vodsel linked is described to be potent which should be promising. What would be the worst case scenario for this stuff to be? Pure plant fats w/o DMT?

Would it be unreasonable in any way to give it a try before recrystallizing?
