I then looked up "ethyl alcohol" and noticed it was also considered grain alcohol.
So, since Methyl alcohol is something you don't really want to risk putting in your body, can you use Everclear? That is grain alcohol right.
methyl alcohol is methanol - OK to use as long as you know the risks and how to handle it. Main thing is whatever you do with it, let your final product evaporate well for at least 1 day and then some to remove any traces of methanol.
Ethyl alcohol or ethanol is your everyday alcohol, the intoxicating stuff humanity uses for millennia, so everclear will do; 190-proof is the best you can get.
