I ran out of freebase and tried to convert a 1/2 gm of my fumarate to freebase following a tek I seen on the wiki. I dissolved 500 mgs fumarate in 50 ml tap water. The ph of that was about 8. I then made a very concentrated mixture of water and sodium carbonate. I added it drop wise with stirring to the fumarate solution. It pretty much instantly started clouding up. I was'nt sure what I was supposed to get the ph to so I kept adding until it was around 12.
Then it sat for a few days. The liquid was clear and their were crystals so I thought all was well. Poured through a coffee filter, and the aproximately 50 mgs of crystals that ended up in the filter was all I ended up getting from it. I let the water dry out of the jar and added acetone to retrieve the crystals sticking to the sides and bottom. They did'nt seem to dissolve to well. Took a lot of shaking, and warmth. Then I poured it into a dish to evaporate. All I ended up with was this whiteish goo.
Could anyone tell me where I went wrong? Or better yet give me a link to a better tek for the conversion? Thanks.
