The gunk should be some good spice depending how much it was. Also what solvent are you using sounds like your going for straight pure stuff which if that is the case you would have to separate the other spices from the pure stuff.
Hopefully that helps :/
No worries. I gotta kilo of bark but I only have a 500mL sep funnel so I've been doing Vovin's A/B 100g MHRB at a time. First yeild was only 700mg pure crystals so I am thinking either I got low quality product or I need to tweak something. I am using sunnyside naphtha as a solvent and HCl for acidification. I was considering heptane for pulling but decided against it.
I am going for pure as possible. To be honest, I'm such a perfectionist with the levels and separation that I have noticed VERY LITTLE gunk... just at the very end. I've read the teks on jungle spice and maybe I can get into that later but at the moment I am very happy with pure, jasmine scented snowflakes.
I appreciate the reply, and you might be able to explain this to me if I can ask... I have been using mason jars for acid agitation without heat baths, but I recently read about using crockpots so I got one for my last extract. It definitely broke the material down more because filtration was an absolute nightmare. My question is why, after cooking the acid and bark in a crockpot this time, did my acidified solution come out WAY lighter (like pink instead of the deep purple) than last time when I DIDN'T heat it?
I'm in the middle of that extract right now and I just want to know whether I messed up so to save some time, effort and material.
Thanks a lot.
