Extraction Equipment Recommendations Options

I am acquiring some laboratory equipment for future extractions, and if things go to plan DMT will not be the only spice in my pantry. As such, I've acquired a hotplate stirrer, a vacuum filter, an aspirator adapter for a faucet aerator, an erlenmeyer flask, and a 25 ml pipette. This is not a comprehensive list, as I also have safety equipment, but one piece of kit I'm uncertain of is a separatory funnel. I'm very comfortable siphoning off my non-polar solvents with a pipette in a thin cylinder, so for AB teks for DMT extraction and even other entheogens, what benefits do a separatory funnel offer that make it worth its weight in my hard-earned cash?

Separatory funnel makes separation of layer take a couple of seconds without needing to worry about accuracy with the pipette, and you can get it down nearly to the last drop isntead of always having to leave a bit that you cant accurately separate with a pipette. Also one thing is if youre doing a 100g extraction with 100ml solvent to pippette out, but it would become much harder if youre trying to extract some mescaline with a larger amount of volume, or makig a bigger mimosa extraction like 500g or whatever and with a large amout of solvent to pippette out.

And if you do some acqueous salting and/or washing of solvent, again it will save you more time and work. I would suggest getting a large one already, like a liter, not less....

Personally I think its great, and im sure you can find some things for cheap, maybe there's something in our suppliers section, or look through ebay, or just search around. Though Ive worked for years without one, so if yu dont have money and feel already good with your technique, then yeah maybe its something to leave for later.

Good work there with the equipment you got, im sure its nice to see it all set up on your extraction table Smile

you are on right path..what i have experieced.what i would DO DIFFERENT is get a Buchner Funnel and papper and vaccumne flask FIRST. I dint get those..i got a sepfullnel and beakers. when you figure out you want to go oral, ypu'll need harmaline and that is a pain IN THE ASS when you dont have a funnel wiht vaccum and papers. and its messy too. hamrmala is way tougher than dmt extraction. the sep funnel is nice but i got some great long pippetes for cheap after the fact...and no funnel which will be after i get back home from job

just wondering where you got your vacuum filter? the net?

I have been thinking about rigging on up using some plastic tubing and the sink for suction.. with some sort of 3 way valve or something in the middle of the tubing, 1 from the sink, one from the flask and one going tot he sink (not sure if that made sense... then i would just have to get the appropriate funnel
anyone know if this would work?
