My extracts usually go well, but now I got a nice 1000ml sep. funnel so while doing my AB tek I ended up with 1800 mls. of clean filtered 'mimosa tea' which I simmered down to 600 mls. in hopes of fitting it in the sep. funnel. The defat went fine. I also made my sodium hydroxide/dh2o solution a little more concentrated than usual to keep the volume down also. The mix got pretty thick/sludgy. Added the naptha, stirred, and put in sep. funnel. It's been long enough and the emulsion layer is still completely engulfing the naptha layer.? The emulsion is kinda cottage cheesish/thick too so I'm kinda aprehensive of adding more base cause I think that's what made it soo thick in the first place. Any idea's of what I could do to fix this?

you can add salt to break the emulsion. Long live the unwoke.

Vacuum filter if possible. Heat on a water bath, and be sure to vent. Spin the funnel between your hands back and forth for some minutes, being careful not to drop it or spill it. Patience in allowing the emulsion to settle. Salt, as Jamie said. Poke, mix the emulsion with a glass rod or a disposable chopstick. Divide in to 2 extractions and add water. Centrifuge.
