Greetings,
Has anyone used the herbal percolator tek recently? Is it still a recommended tek and does it work well?
The plan is to prepare caapi and chaliponga using this tek and any advice would be greatly appreciated.
How much caapi is recommend with this tek? 20-30 grams?
How much chaliponga? 5-10 grams?
Any recommended additives to acidify the water? Vinegar? What ratio?
Finally, can you recommend any other modern teks to prepare the brew?
Thanks!

I don't recommend THP because of the sheer volume of liquids that are needed for them. Personally I would use at least 50 grams of caapi. 5-10g of chali will surely do the trick. Acidification is really only necessary if you plan on doing short/fast brews. It might help with THP, but remember, that acid is going to significantly alter the taste of the brew, and no, not in a good way. I wrote down how I make ayahuasca in the link in my signature if you are interested. Let us know if you have any further questions. I want to see defunkt drink ayahuasca!

Thank you for the reply! Your diagram looks great and I'll let you know if I have any questions.
Ayahuasca is new territory for me. How long can one expect the experience to last?

If you drink it in the evening, time will lose it's meaning, and you will journey until you rest. When you have gone deep, you will awaken with a very unique and wonderful feeling of being "reborn" in a way. Chaliponga is a great choice. In terms of hours, to be honest, I've never counted.

I've used THP with great success. I use 200ml/g and add a splash of vinegar to every 1000ml. The main thing with THP is that you should have a large pot to reduce your brew in, as house pointed out, there's a lot of water involved. I would be willing you could run THP on "normally" brewed bark and you could extract alkaloids that didn't come out during the boils. SnozzleBerry, excuse me if this question doesn't belong in this thread (and it can be moved if it does not), but after using THP for just caapi (so far) can that large amount of liqiud actually be boiled light (or heavily) without burning/caramelizing or does it have to be gently steamed w/ no bubbles formed? Really appreciate it.
