I got my spice out of storage and the plastic bag had become loose and the tin foil with the spice in was all damp. the spice had turned from light yellow to a dingy rusty brown. It still smells right.

Also in the box I think some batteries may have leaked, and possibly infected the spice.

I really want to save this stuff with an A-B extraction, but is this just stupid? Should i throw it away?

yup, that's teh way to go; dissolve it in some acid, like vinegar then base it and pull with solvent.

just a note, some stuff from this brown goo may (for whatever reason) not dissolve in acid; whatever does not dissolve, you really do not want further in your clean-up process and you may discard it.
