http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Azeotrope_%28data%29

though the data is not here, it may be an azeotropic mixture.
I've observed in a sep funnel that methanol is miscible in
dcm, and would not separate.
looks like the same would apply to white spirits, which is light naphtha..
a mixture of those small alkanes such as pentane, hexane, and heptane.

Couldn't you still do a water wash on the KS-3 to get rid of the methanol? And the other
solvents probably wouldn't have a negative effect, as they can also be used in extractions.
I read in another thread that KS-3 contains some kind of binders and that would be my main concern.

So whatever comes out when distilled, even if it's an azeotrope, is still safe for use in extracting, especially if one is going to wash the final product in a Buchner?
benzyme, what do you think of this? http://www.sciencemadnes...&fid=10&tid=1083 can't really decipher what's better to add to the distilled azeotrope to separate the dcm so that it may be further distilled to purify it further.

ahh yes...adding a salt. salts aren't very soluble in methanol though.
I've never heard of this brand, probably because I have access to dcm; but keep in mind, if methanol and white spirits are the only additives, it would be a formidable solvent to use as-is.

MSDS: http://www.wmbarr.com/Pr.../KS%20Premium%20Stripper(4015-26)%205-17-11.pdf

Distill once, and use product for non-polar solvent, worry-free. Will post if anything goes differently! Thanks for the input everyone
