Newbie here researching...

Some very quick background: Starting right around my late teens (I'm now 34), when life really starting getting challenging, I starting having a mixture of terrible nightmares mixed with normal or positive oriented dreams, about 1 bad for 4 - 5 neutral or good... this was sporadic. The nightmares weren't usually too bad, but about 3 - 4 times a year at times, could be so terrifying, that at first as a grown man I would be afraid to move, breathe, get up, turn on the light, etc... for at least a half hour. (A few times I even called siblings at 3 or 4am just to help snap me out of it and mentally rejoin normal existence. The embarrassment was far less than the fear.) Eventually i grew fully accustomed to nightmares that would scare the shit out of anyone and literally would be like, "meh", and rollover and go back to sleep. Scounds crazy, but that's what it came to be. I could get stalked and murdered one second waking up with a semi-paralyzed grunt which should have been a scream, then be asleep a minute later pretty much unnerved. They only happened maybe 3 - 4 times a year... no apparent reasoning behind them... life's been pretty fair overall. My dreams have never made sense to me in the slightest.

K now to the present: I've practiced meditation for about 3 years now which has developed a near permanent condition of amazing and lasting inner peace (beyond lucky i know). Starting about 6 - 12 months ago, i started having lucid dreams... the kind where not only am i 100% aware that i am asleep in "real life" and am currently dreaming, but any time a dream turns remotely unpleasant, I can simipily choose to wake up, and immediately do so. During pleasant dreams I can consciously decide to keep dreaming.

For instance, last week I drempt I was shooting 3 pointers with my bros/dad and decided to keep shooting around because i hadnt in a while irl, until i got bored with it after about a half hour, and decided to wake up. Also, I recently drempt that i started to get in a fight with a sibling (literally never happens irl) and thought, "f this, im waking up" and did.

I'm wanting to see if I'll hear from others who experience this, and specifically how they feel it may or may not affect their consciousness expanding attempts through DMT. I've read that it is difficult to remember most of what the DMT experience is like afterwards... kindof like a dream, but my goal is to retain and record as much as possible, possibly during to some degree. I also have a concern (not a worry) that while I will try my best to accept whatever happens whether perceived as positive or negative during use, the control I have enjoyed while dreaming will go right out the window and that shock may interfere negatively.

Overall, no worries, and I cant wait to try, but ya any comments out there?
"Words reduce reality to something the human mind can grasp, which isn’t very much. Language consists of five basic sounds produced by the vocal cords. They are the vowels a, e, i, o, u. The other sounds are consonants produced by air pressure: s, f, g, and so forth. Do you believe some combination of such basic sounds could ever explain who you are, or the ultimate purpose of the universe, or even what a tree or stone is in its depth?"

"The beginning of freedom is the realization that you are not “the thinker.” The moment you start watching the thinker, a higher level of consciousness becomes activated. You then begin to realize that there is a vast realm of intelligence beyond thought, that thought is only a tiny aspect of that intelligence."

"The brain does not create consciousness, but conciousness created the brain, the most complex physical form on earth, for its expression."

Hey there, I have had a similar problem. I started getting into lucid dreaming about 4 years ago, long story short, i lost control and grip on my dreams, and for weeks they ran wild, every night being a continuation or an exact replica of the night before. I was stuck in a empty carnival every night for weeks. over the course of the three or four weeks it finally stopped happening and then i had a hard time sleeping up until present day, and and often i have intense dreams, sometimes nightmares.

when i started smoking dmt, it immediately put an end to all my dreaming, while on the other hand, my room mate and his girlfriend started dreaming alot more, but they love it and are always talking about the cool dreams, I personally have had my share of dreams, and am much happier experiencing it in a form of a drug per-say, than when when im a asleep. dmt has def slowly helped me sleep better and better and put an end to the dreams. I am someone that thinks if you start using dmt your mind and soul will change in specific ways to taylor to your specific needs. the same as meditation would do basically, with dmt, you virtually go in and untangle your bad spirits and bad memories, your problems in your life, it digs out the deepest things, and makes you think about them, and then shows you how to fix them, or how to let go of it.
Everything I say is fictional, I do not support illegal drug use of any kind, SWIM is a fictional character.

Word, that's good insight lodi.

DMT spiked my dreams. I've always dreamed expansive realms, big crazy places, but when I start smoking DMT, it increases the lucidity, clearer, longer, more remembered, etc.

For the most part I endure unpleasentness,I'm used to strange and ominous situations constantly in them, so...I don't choose to wake up, but easily spring forward once the shtf, ie, standing in the bathroom when something breaks in on me, awake, in the house with laws everywhere outside, door kicks in bam, I wake. It's like there's a limit to what my subconscious wants to put me through. For now
My ego is insane, but I'm alright

Lavos is a fictional character, a dream inside a dream. Don't take what he says to be true or representational of reality in any known form. He is inspired by pure fantasy.
