How to separate Mesc and Sodium Acetate??? PLEASE HELP Options

I screwed up again...
I was evaporating white vinegar with mesc in it. As I saw the precip never show I add NaOH to the vinegar until pH got basi, and solid compound shown inmediatly, but... finally I got the precip, but its too much , a lot of it must be sodium acetate.

Someone knows the solubility of mesc in water?
I checked sodium acetate's is 47g/100mL of water

Maybe I could use the solubility difference to separe this two...

THANKS

Where does the chlorine go?

Mescaline doesnt precipitate out of water as you evaporate the vinegar with mescaline.. You wont see anything happening, its just the water evaporating and eventualy becoming a sticky goo... It was for sure working as normal, no need to get desperate Smile

Why dont you just pull whatever solution you have now with your solvent (xylene? limonene?), and salt again ? Thats the easiest sure way to get through this, I think...

Finally I disolved it with xylene. It think it doesnt work very well because a lot of the solid doesnt disolved (and I dont think I had so much sodium acetate).
...Anyway, I evaporated again, this time without basifing vinegar, and I got the brown resin, a litle burn I think, but mesc at last I supose...

I saved the nondisolved solid and filtrated it. This is like a cocaine paste (or crack or whatever). I think this paste has a good part of my mesc. So, how can I could save/separate this mesc from this salt ¿? Confused

thanks everyone, and please someone how works at lab or something help me Sad

I doubt your mescaline is there. If its sodium acetate, it should be water soluble. Redissolve it in water, add base, pull again. Though I would bet all your mescaline is in the brown resin

Your fuck-ups are coming from sheer impatience and carelessness. Which is a total shame, especially if you're in academia.

You might have gotten some mescaline in the end, or maybe not. It's far better to throw everything, call the whole operation a good lesson, then start anew.

yes, you are right
Finally I re-xtracted with xylene and no mesc in it...

...its a life lesson xD shit...
