Does anybody have any idea how to extract the essential oils of basil? I know it's possible and that when you have purified basil flavors, you'll get something of a smell...blastwave.

Take a look at steam distillation.

have a look at this nice unit for home distilling of essential oils. this unit can be used to purify solvents as well.
