I'm not sure if the story about "Dr. Alpert" giving Neem Karoli Babba 900-1200 mcg of LSD as a first experience and then nothing happened except an occasional twinkle of the Guru's eyes is included in this download, but I now believe I understand, and have actually experienced (though not at these doses) how this can happen and what it means.
The common western supposition is that "I am my mind." If mind is altered, or perturbed by a substance, "I" am altered, or perturbed.
From a fully developed Vedantic/non-dual point of view, identity, or being is not the mind rather it is the unchanging Consciousness that "sees" the mind's contents. Consciousness is "one's" real identity and consciousness/awareness never changes. Even deep sleep is simply the absence of mind, world and time - Consciousness is still there in deep sleep, simply without content. Deep sleep is bliss, or contentment: "Sat-Chit-Ananda." "I" the ego does not exist in deep sleep, does the sleeper cease to exist?
So, if one can "see-through" the mis-identification of identity with mind, it's content and "the body,", one ought to be able to "detach" from the psychedelic experience to simply "witness" it. It could be that this re-alignment of identity may take a lifetime of dedicated work, it may be available in the next journey I don't know.
Psychedelics are mind-manifesting, Consciousness "sees" the mind and it's content, and so is transcendent of the mind. Consciousness is the substrate of existence in this view - all appears in it.
Are we not the Universe taking form to experience itself? If that last statement is agreeable, what if one extrapolates from it to ask; "Who am I?"
For whom are the thoughts, the psychedelia, the breakthrough?

Thanks for the link. numinoid wrote: I'm not sure if the story about "Dr. Alpert" giving Neem Karoli Babba 900-1200 mcg of LSD ... is included in this download,... P229 of the book (249 of the pdf) Nick Sands and company had the occasional accidental huge dose while fabricating the masses of lsd, he said it was possible (after a short rest on a bed) to work "trough the hallucinations" and kept working in the lab utterly dosed. Perhaps it was the same way of dealing with it?

I liked the part in The Sunshine Makers when Sand talks about this. He pantomimes burning his finger on a bunsen, instinctual hand to mouth reaction and then "Oh, shit. I just ate thousands of mikes." I love the pieces he wrote about dmt. olympus mon wrote:You need to hit it with intention to get where you want to be! That guy the Baba guru from what I read anyway about him, he always said 'sab ek' meaning all one... I hope you find something.
