Stats of December 2008:

Code:

Month             Visitors     Page Views     Bandwidth (KB)     Google Ads income (USD)
-----             --------     ----------     --------------     -----------------------
2008 December     50,280       330,080        219,050,958        33,33

Compared to november we have much less unique visitors, which is reasonable since november was a SHE month. The total bandwith stayed about the same and the page views went up a lot, the latter being the effect of more people posting and reading on the forum. Also the ads income went up a bit, explainable by the fact that in November the google ads only started in week 2.

Stats of January 2009:

Code:

Month             Visitors     Page Views     Bandwidth (KB)     Google Ads income (USD)

The Stats for January are way off due to the fact that only the first 20 days of January were logged. This is due to a small mistake from my side by making the log file read-only after compression.

So this reminds me of something I was gonna bring up... Mr. Traveler, have you given any thought to making a DMT nexus archive available on cd or dvd or something like that?
I still remember when dmtworld went down, what a terrible loss that was. I mean I guess I'm glad it happened in a way cuz then this site came up shortly thereafter, and I really dig the way you run this place... and I certainly hope it never, ever goes down! But just the same I think it would be awesome if forum archives were available just in case, or also just for easy access if we're away from an internet connection or something. Maybe you could come out with a new updated version every six months or something. Anyway this would be another way to generate more revenue... I know I'd pay five or ten bucks to have this site on a disk! Heck I might even pay as much as $23. Whaddaya think?

I started hosting the DMT-Nexus somewhere near the end of 2006. Up to then it existed already a few months, the first thread was posted at September 4th 2006.

A backup of all the messages is all I can do for now to make public, since a backup of the whole database contains private msg's.

As you can see at the bottom of the forum-front page we have currently about 1460 registered members. Last month 219 of those people posted at least once on the DMT-Nexus.

Code:

-----             --------     ----------     --------------     -----------------------
2009 February     63,405       375,277        190,266,470        31,59

Since January was lacking some days in the stats, it's best to compare this month to December 2008. The amount of visitors and page views increased very well while the bandwidth use decreased a bit, the latter probably because of Youtube containing the same video's as the DMT-Nexus.

Google Ads income seems to be pretty stable.

March was a month where everything increased quite a bit compared to the previous month. It seems we are growing slowly bud steadily.

The Google Ads income increased quite a bit.

Ive visited a lot of sites, and besides erowid and sacred-texts, this is the only other place I would be willing to buy a disc of. Seriously, this place is nearly as priceless as the spice itself!

Previously I created a DMT-Nexus backup for the public with all the posts in it. Since then a few people asked me to erase their profile which of course I would do for the current site. The problem is that the backup would already be downloaded with the users posts still in it so it wouldn't be a complete erase.

I can still create a monthly backup but we have to discuss the inherent problems with it first.

Kind regards,

The Traveler

Hmmm... so what if the backup somehow anonymized all the posters? Like you could still read what was posted, just not by whom?

Or would there still be potential problems then?

Good idea! I'll give every user a number (I'm not a number, I'm a free man! Cool) and show that number instead of a name.

There would still be problems though, like having a (small) log of users and one post of them could link the numbers back to names but it's one step further for the normal man in the street.

Traveler,

I love the idea of being able to get a backup of the posts on the Nexus, I've been thinking alot about that since we lost service that month.

Maybe you could sell them for the cost of your time and the disk?

I personally would feel a great loss if all this information was one day gone forever.
