Hi all,

It might not be obvious to all of you but lately the mods worked really hard to keep the DMT-Nexus a pristine space as it is. The main problem we face at this moment is the high influx of new members who's attitude doesn't reflect that of the DMT-Nexus.

Of course you could say that we should just let them enter and such but as you might have notices the DMT-Nexus isn't your normal 'drug' forum type. Most members highly respect the Spice and see it as something sacred. When certain new members come in with questions that highly disrespect the spice, it hurts our inner core!

Because of this we already gave new members limited rights and even though that did helped a bit it created a massive burden on the mod-team. To lift some weight from the shoulders of the mods we gonna do something completely different: we now have THE NEXUS NURSERY!

THE NEXUS NURSERY
This part of the forum is the only place where new members can make posts, all other parts are off limits until promoted. Current members can post there too to help the new members.

PROMOTION
A new member will be promoted to full membership when this new member shows in it's posts a certain maturity. What this maturity is, is up to the mod-crew.

It helps in the following situations to get promoted:
* A full member vouches for a new member
* A new member write an essay why he or she want's a full membership, this essay doesn't have to be long or without spelling errors, it just has to be genuine

Again, the decision to promote a new member to full membership is up to the mods!


RECAP
* This new section is the only place where new members can post, all other sections of the forum are read only for them.
* When a new member has shown it's merits it will be promoted to a normal membership.
* Writing an essay in the appropriate section helps the user to get promoted.
* Normal members can also post in these sections to help the new members out.
* Current members can nomitate new members for promotion.

POSITIVE
* It's more easy for current members to help out new members since there's now a dedicated place for newby questions
* More easy to follow the steps of new members and filter out unwanted people
* The nexus will gain better posts at the normal member sections
* Less newby questions in the normal forum parts

NEGATIVE
* cross-section posts, cluttering: e.g. There are now two places to post DMT-Experiences reports, this can cause confusion.

I think this is a great idea its now like a members only club and we decide who gets a membership so now the nexus is semi private. Im down with it.

Will this be retroactive or is it for members who join after this date. Also what if someone is suggested to be a full member but another nexian disagrees how would that be settled.

I think this is an excellent idea. In fact I suggested something very similar in the "New members will have limited rights thread":

It's for members who joined after the 25th of July. In the end it's the moderators decision to promote someone, it's just that it really helps when someone is nominated because then we know someone is genuine.

ok i know im new to this site and all, and ive only done one extraction, the lazy man, well.....i just want to throw this out there....when i finished the product just seemed real chemically like..not very pure...so all im saying is for all the new comers to the site, i think there should be a thread that out lines the SAFEST or cleanest way to extract...i know its on the site somewhere (i hope) but i havent yet ran across it...sorry if i sound like im coming down on ya...i just want everyone to be safe and healthy.....now its back to studying

After a few weeks of operation I can only say it's a stroke of genius.

It's more than a filter: also a way to get to know many wonderful new members that might have slipped through unnoticed without the Nursery! It's turning into a self-correcting adaptive system

Even though I find that there are MANY people in there who are more than suited to be a full member.

Yes obliguhl.. As you may have noticed, the nexus has grown A LOT in the last few months/weeks, which makes it a bit hard for moderators to have an eye an all threads plus all new members around (specially because many mods are also having busy days lately and cannot come to the forum as much as they wished).

So please, all of you new and old members, be patient with us, we are trying


In any case, we could for sure use some help from you guys also... You can for example recommend which new members you feel should be promoted. This will help us pay more attention to them.

Im not sure if traveler has made a specific thread where older members can suggest new members to be promoted, lets see if he can give us his input on this.. Otherwise, you can just use this thread and name them, or send me or other mods a pm about it..

I have just been grated full membership to the site. You wouldn't believe how happy I am to have been freed from the Nursery.

Thought I should thank The Traveler here (instead of clogging up his inbox).

I would just like to say that I found my time in the Nexus Nursery frustrating. However I do believe that it is a great solution to a problem that could have had a very negative impact upon the site.
